What is KATANABA?

Samurai swords have been greatly highlighted in recent years in movies, TV dramas, animations, etc.  However, except getting an opportunity to seriously learn the Japanese martial arts using the swords at Dojyo (martial arts school), it is not too much to say that having an actual experience to slash with the swords is almost impossible.

Our experience course is designed to meet such interests of those who would like to try slashing with Samurai swords.
In other words, with Katanaba, you can make such infeasible desire and interest come true. 

E. Matsumoto, Samurai sword artist having has more than 20 years experience in the classical martial arts, and provides you with a suitable guidance and pre-practice using wooden swords sufficiently.   By the time of end of our lessons, the most of beginners could slash tatami mat rolls successfully with our rental Samurai swords.

Introduction of Instructor,
E. Matsumoto

He worked for Reuters (British news agency) for 20 years, therafter Dutch Embassy in Japan.  He ended his “businessman life of suit&tile” in 2014.
In 2019, opened Katanaba as a collaboration with Kawarana.

Our System

Basically your reservation requires minimum 2 persons, in other words reservation for only one persons is not available.
Only the payment in cash is accepted.  Credit cards are unavailable.

  • Send us your reservation request at least 3 days in advance using the form attached below.
  • We will respond you if your requested date and time are possible.
  • The reservation is completed, after confirming the mutual schedule.
Notes.
  • If only one person wants to join our course, the fee would be same as two persons. 
  • Cancellations after the reservation is confirmed is unacceptable. 100% fee is charged in such a case, as cancellation fee.
  • Please come with comfortable attire and shoes for easy to exercise.
Plan

◎ Iai Battou Plan

Fee is 9800yen per person. So minimum charge is 19600yen .
*This is our regular experience plan.

  1. Please consult with us if more than 5 people want to join course.
  2. The above fee includes insurance fee, and 3 tatami rolls to slash.
    *If you would like to slash additional rolls, the unit price is 1000yen.
